DomainSurfaceStr computes the outer surface or edges of a structured grid.


DomainSurfaceStr is available for COVISE version 4.5 and higher. It's available for all supported platforms.


Name Type Description


Slider This scalar (slider) specifies a bounding for the angle between the face normal of two connected surface parts. If the angle between these normals is less than this parameter, the corresponding feature line is not shown. The angle must be given in radians.
vertex Vector Normal for back-face culling
scalar Scalar Threshold for back-face culling
double Boolean Check for duplicated vertices
optimize Choice Optimize for memory or speed

Input Ports

requiredMesh StructuredGrid
The structured grid or a set of structured grids.
optionalData Float
Scalar or vector data.

Output Ports

outputSurface Polygons The outer surface of the grid as polygons.
dependSurfDat Float
If the optional input port is connected, the data on the vertices of the polygons of the outer surface are available at this port.
outputLines Lines Edge lines
dependLinesDat Float
If the optional input port is connected, the data on the lines are available at this port.

We use the map covise/net/examples/DomainSurfaceStr.net. The module GenDat generates a structured grid in shape of a torus. You can see the surface in the first Renderer output. The second Renderer output shows feature lines; the angle parameter is set to 0.01.
